Guess who's back? Back again...

Hey SUITable fam,

It’s been way too long since my last post. First off, thank you to those who have checked in or sent messages, and for those fellow fellas out there understanding the silence. Life, lately, has been a tornado of new ventures, late nights, deadlines, and a few unexpected curveballs.

If you love torture like me, juggling gigs, a new 9 to 5, your own company, and, if you dare, a presence on social media, you probably know exactly what I’m talking about. Each week is a unique battle to find room for everything and, mostly, to not let important things slip through the cracks.

The grind don’t stop

The last few months have been wild to say the least, but the present is filled with new ideas and creative flow. I’m ready for what the Universe has in store for me.

Getting a new job was a blessing, especially after all the uncertainty in recent years. It was hard leaving the Genius Bar at Apple, but as any ambitious soul knows, “the grind don’t stop.”  I’ve been working hard at turning my passion projects (and that means SUITable, Photography, and my opera company) into more than just after-hours hobbies. Add to that some freelance gigs I couldn’t resist, and suddenly, days blur together.

Then there’s the social media game. I love interacting with you all on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, but honestly? It’s hard to post authentically when you’re running on fumes. For those of us who want to represent plus size men with style and confidence, showing up online shouldn’t feel like just another checkbox but sometimes, it does.

After 8 wonderful years at Apple, the time came for a new chapter. This was a hard decision, and I was filled with doubt and so much fear! But that’s why I knew this was the right move. Though no job will ever replace the wonderful memories, friends and colleagues who inspired me every day and helped me become who I am today.

All this hustle comes at a cost. For me, it’s often my health. I’ve wrestled with some issues this year some obvious, some emotional, some you only notice when you finally (rarely) slow down. Maybe you know the struggle: the balance between prioritizing your dreams, your career, and your well-being. Sometimes, it feels like you can only choose two.

But here’s the truth: Though I haven’t posted in a while, I’m recommitting to SUITable. This place matters to me, and I know it matters to all of you who see yourselves here. I promise to work harder at sharing the wins, the fails, the fits, and all of the messy reality of balancing life as a plus size entrepreneur.

Everyone knows that not all change is good or even necessary. But in a world that is constantly changing, it is to our advantage to learn how to adapt and enjoy something better.
— From the book "Who moved my cheese" by Spencer Johnson

Moving forward, I’ll make more of an effort to not let so much time pass between posts. If you’re also navigating a new role or fighting to keep your health top of mind, know you aren’t alone.

Thanks for sticking with me. And if you’ve had a wild year too, drop a comment and let me know how you’re managing. Let’s keep building this community one real story at a time.

Stay SUITable,

JH
